Cauchemar was founded in 2007 by vocalist/bassist Annick Giroux and guitarist François Patry with the goal of producing eerie, no-frills doomy heavy metal. The project eventually turned into a band with the addition of Patrick Pageau (ex-Bastardator guitarist) on drums.
"La Vierge Noire" is their first release.

Cauchemar fut fondé en 2007 par la chanteuse/bassiste Annick Giroux et le
guitariste François Patry dans le but d'écrire du heavy métal hanté avec
des paroles françaises. Le projet s'est transformé en groupe à part entière
avec l'arrivée du batteur Patrick Pageau (ancien guitariste de Bastardator).
"La Vierge Noire" est leur premier album.
